In 1998 Mike Kremer and Mike Loftis of Blackwell, Ok started AOK.Net to provide wireless internet service in Kay County. The company was then sold to Kay Electric Cooperative (operating as Kayserv), and later to the Ponca City Publishing Company (operating as PoncaCity.Net). In 2015 the service was moved to its current headquarters in Tonkawa, Ok as Encounter Wireless serving commercial and residential customers in Western Osage County, Kay County, Northern Noble County, Grant County, Northern Garfield County, Southern Alfalfa, Eastern Major County and the city of Woodward and its surrounding area.
February 1, 2020 Encounter Wireless became a part of Chisholm Broadband.
